GRAPE VARIETY Vernaccia
ALCOHOL CONTENT 18.5%
ORIGIN
Alluvial soils, with a frank – sandy texture. The flowing of the Tirso river for centuries has given rise to these naturally fertile soils, well-drained due to the presence of sand. The soils of the Tirso Valley, thus characterized, are called "Bennaxi".
PROCESSING
The grapes are hand-picked and vinified as white wine with flor yeast and alcoholic fermentation in concrete tanks, without temperature control. After about six months, the obtained wine is transferred to oak and chestnut barrels left unfilled, so that the 'flor' yeast film can form. The wine remains this way for over fifteen years, improving its structure, alcohol content, softness, and complexity of its perfumes and aromas over time.
CHARACTERISTICS
Color: amber yellow, with coppery reflections.
Aroma: intense and elegant, with prominent notes of licorice and chestnut honey, quince, nutmeg, and saffron. Hints of dried fruit.
Taste: dry, soft, and enveloping. Its alcohol content is moderated by freshness and sapidity. Very long-lasting sip.
PAIRINGS
Vernaccia di Oristano Riserva is an excellent meditation wine, perfect with dry pastries and almond paste sweets.
