In Sardinian dialect “is arenas” means the sands, indicating the sandy nature that characterizes the soils of Sulcis and in particular of the island of Sant'Antioco.
GRAPES Carignano
ALCOHOL CONTENT 14.5%
ORIGIN
Vineyards trained as bush vines at sea level, ungrafted, on the island of Sant'Antioco.
PROCESSING
The grapes are subjected to destemming and crushing and the must is left to ferment with the marc in stainless steel containers for fifteen days; after racking, fermentation continues, always in steel. Once fermentation is complete, Is Arenas matures in Allier oak barrels for ten months, a period during which malolactic fermentation also takes place; this phase is followed by refinement in the bottle for six months.
CHARACTERISTICS
Color: intense and impenetrable ruby red, veined with warm garnet reflections.
Aroma: sensations of fruit such as plum, berries, undergrowth and spicy nuances of vanilla.
Taste: structured and smooth, soft, good flavour, freshness and elegant tannins.
COMBINATIONS
Is Arenas is a red wine that is excellent to accompany a structured aperitif, with cured meats and aged cheeses. At the table it accompanies important first courses, perhaps seasoned with full-bodied sauces.
