GRAPE VARIETY Cagnulari and Cannonau
ALCOHOL CONTENT 14.5%
ORIGIN
Vineyards owned by the winery, grown using the espalier system with Guyot pruning on calcareous-clayey soils, approximately 200 m above sea level, Usini (SS).
PROCESSING
The grapes are harvested by hand between the end of September and the beginning of October, and then quickly taken to the cellar where they are selected and processed separately. The musts are left in contact with the skins for about ten days, at a temperature between 25° C and 28° C. Once the wine has been obtained, Luzzana is sent to malolactic fermentation and a subsequent period of maturation in new and semi-new wooden barriques, for a period of between eight and twelve months. Only at this point are the two masses of wine assembled and sent for bottling.
CHARACTERISTICS
Color: Ruby tending towards garnet, very clear.
Aroma: intense and complex on the nose, with notes of jammy fruit such as plum, blackberry and cherry, balsamic and spicy notes of vanilla, given by the aging in wood.
Taste: dry and full sip, pleasant initial tannic sensation, in right balance with alcohol and acidity. Savoury and fresh, with good taste-olfactory persistence.
It has aging potential of 3/4 years and, in particular vintages, even more.
COMBINATIONS
Luzzana is a red wine that pairs well with fine cuisine dishes based on poultry and game, grilled red meats and cheeses.
