GRAPES 100% Carignano
GRADATION 14%
ORIGIN
The winery's own vines, some of which are a hundred years old, ungrafted and trained as saplings on the flat land of the island of Carloforte, in Sulcis.
PROCESSING
After the grapes are harvested manually, the bunches are quickly transported to the cellar and subjected to destemming-crushing and red vinification. Russu first ages in stainless steel containers and then 3 months in the bottle before being released for sale.
Russu can be drunk immediately or kept in the cellar for up to 10 years after the harvest.
CHARACTERISTICS
Color: garnet red with purple reflections.
Aroma: enveloping and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, Mediterranean scrub and sweet spices.
Taste: smooth and broad at the same time, soft with a present but delicate tannin, good freshness and flavor, which give it a long persistence.
COMBINATIONS
Russu is a perfect red wine to pair with meat-based first courses, but also grilled red meat and well-seasoned fatty fish such as tuna. Also excellent with medium-aged cheeses. We recommend trying it with monkfish stew with mushrooms and potatoes.
It traditionally accompanies all the dishes of Carloforte , on the island of San Pietro, typically tuna -based such as cassulli alla carlofortina, stewed tuna and roast tuna.
