Produced by the Bentu Luna winery, established between the historic regions of Mandrolisai and Barigadu in the heart of Sardinia, Be Luna comes from a vineyard planted in 1905 in the municipality of Atzara, with over 117 years of history imprinted in every grape. A blend of three native Sardinian grape varieties — Bovaleddu 35%, Cannonau 35%, and Monica 30% — grown on sandy-loam soils that give the wine a unique and unrepeatable personality.
The winemaking respects time and tradition: after careful destemming, fermentation begins with a spontaneous pied de cuve in large concrete tanks, with whole berries and clusters fermenting for about 3 weeks, accompanied by light manual punch-downs. This is followed by an 8-month aging period in second-passage oak barriques, during which malolactic fermentation occurs and light bâtonnage (lees stirring) adds roundness and integration.
In the glass, Be Luna presents an intense ruby red color, a bouquet of ripe cherry and spicy notes, and a soft palate with a discreetly persistent finish that tells the whole soul of Mandrolisai.
