An unconventional Sardinian red, a blend of five native grape varieties from the vineyards of Neoneli
An unconventional Sardinian red, a blend of five native grape varieties from the vineyards of Neoneli
If you are looking for a Sardinian red wine free from regulations and with a wild and authentic character, Sobi is the Bentu Luna IGT Sardinian red that will surprise you with its complexity and the richness of its blend.
Produced by the Bentu Luna winery in the heart of Sardinia, Sobi is made from a blend of five native grape varieties — Cannonau 35%, Bovaleddu 25%, Pascale, Cagnulari, Carignano and Barbera 35%, Monica 5% — from vineyards in the municipality of Neoneli, in Mandrolisai. A wine deliberately produced outside the DOC, to give full expressive freedom to a territory and grape varieties that deserve to be discovered without constraints.
Harvest takes place in the first ten days of October, followed by slow and careful destemming. Fermentation starts with a spontaneous pied de cuve in 20 hl concrete tanks, with whole berries and clusters fermenting for about 3 weeks, with light manual punch-downs at the end of the second week. This is followed by an 8-month aging period in second-passage oak barriques, during which malolactic fermentation occurs and light bâtonnage provides integration and roundness.
This wine is suitable for you if:
- You love complex Sardinian reds, from blends of rare native grape varieties
- You are looking for labels produced outside the regulations, with full expressive freedom
- You appreciate wines vinified with traditional methods in concrete and barriques
- You want to discover lesser-known Sardinian native grape varieties such as Bovaleddu, Pascale, and Cagnulari
This Sobi Rosso di Sardegna IGT label is appreciated for its unique characteristics:
